Product Mash: V7 and below: How to use User Defined Properties

In the Product Mash if you need to define different values for your products (such as EAN) and Actinic does not currently provide that information you can add a Custom Property.

A custom property allows you to include additional information for each product (at a product or section level) to use within the Product Mash. Once this value has been set-up it can be used on more than 1 feed type. For example, the EAN (bar code number) is required by Amazon, PriceRunner and Shopzilla. This also has the advantage that it can be used in searches on your site.

1 Define a Custom Variable. Under the Advanced Menu option select Custom Properties. Click on the [+] box (top left) and type in the name of the custom var. For example, EAN.

2In the Product Mash, click on the Feed Options button. You will need to restart the Product Mash each time you add any new Custom Variables to Actinic.

3 Click the relevant tab for the feed that you are generating (e.g. Amazon).

4Click on the Add or Edit button in the Property (or Custom Property) area.

5 Select the relevant property (if a property is being added) in the Variable area.

6Under Value select CustomVar.

7Select either Section or Productfor the Type and then the relevant CustomVar that you have created (e.g. EAN).

8Type in a Default value (if required). This will be used if you don't assign any values to the CustomVar (leave blank if you are unsure what value to use).

9Press OK.

10 In Actinic go to the Properties tab on each product that you want to define a value for the Custom Variable. Enter the relevant value.

11 That is now set-up.
